Ella- 17 months

Our little princess is growing too quickly. I'm embarassed to admit that I missed her "17-month" milestone by a few days. It zipped by without me even realizing. Here is what she has been up to lately:

*Ella is still working with physical therapy. She has progressed to a lot of tall kneeling, but still needs to progress to "kneel-to-stand". Every once in a while, she will look as though she really wants to pull herself up, but mostly she is content on her knees or bottom. We are also working on her gaining some confidence while she is in the standing position.
*Ella finally got herself to the seated position in her crib. Normally, when we would go in to get her out of bed, she would be laying on her back. For the first time, when I went in to get her up for the day, she was sitting in her crib. We finally had to put the side of the crib up....at 16 months :). This was a big "first" for her.
*Ella can bit hit-or-miss with her sleeping as far as naps go, but she is still a great sleeper. She consistenly goes to bed at 7 p.m. (unless we are out and about somewhere), but can wake up anywhere from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. And her naps range from 1.5-4.5 hours, depending on the day. No matter what the pattern, she does really well with scattered naps and a good, long night of sleep.
*Just like her brother, Ella still needs her silky blanket and pacifier when it is time to go to sleep. She is perfectly content to play without them, but when it is "night night time", these are what she needs to settle down. She loves to cuddle her silkies.
*Ella is a pretty good eater. Honestly, we haven't given her a lot of variety (a little bit of laziness on my part), but she wolfs down what we give her.
Food she doesn’t like: broccoli and cheese soup, corn, peas (she will eat the baby food, but not frozen peas). Food she does like: cheese, turkey, bananas, oatmeal, pizza, tortillas, scrambled eggs, toast with butter, greek yogurt, crackers.
*You know she is done with her food when she starts pulling the food off of her tray and dropping it on the ground. It doesn't matter how many times we tell her "NO!", or swat her hand, she will do this with a smile on her face every time.
*Ella has nine teeth: top four and bottom four + one molar on the bottom.
*She is really starting to use her sign language skills. She has only learned the basics, like “more”, “all done” and “please”. We are working on “thank you” and “nice” also.
*Ella waved and said “hi” for the first time this month. She has come a long way with her verbal skills in the last four weeks.
*She grinds her teeth all day long. It is a noise I would rather not hear. At all. It is disgusting.
*She loves looking at pictures with daddy. They stand in front of the refrigerator and talk about all of our friends and family who are in the pictures. They also walk up and down the hall and look at our wedding pictures.
*She loves to look at her books. What’s that? Will one of my kids actually like reading? Who knew! Her favorite book is the musical book that Jaycoby gave her, but she loves looking at all of them. She really enjoys the books about animals and laughs whenever we go over the animal noises with the pictures.

Riding with Bro Bro in the Costco shopping cart. Silly Jaycoby!

She was a little sensitive at the beginning of PT, so we got her distracted with a box of tissues. This is normally a "no no", so she was having a blast tearing through the box.

Sleeping Beauty!

Caged in the playroom with Logan.

The first time I found her sitting up in her crib. You can see that the side of the crib is down. We are lucky she couldn't pull herself up, because she could have fallen out.

Puffy coat + restrictive chest straps= screaming baby. She got over it pretty quick though.

Saying "ohhhhh" when I caught her with a tissue she wasn't supposed to have.
