"I want to be in heaven with Jesus when I die..."

I got to share a really special time with Jaycoby yesterday. This is something I have been praying would happen since before he was even born. If I could ask for one thing, it would be that my children would have their own personal relationship with their Maker.
Jaycoby has been asking more questions lately and talking about how much he loves Jesus. The topic seems to come up in the car a lot when he is staring out the window and daydreaming. It happened again yesterday and I wish I would have just pulled the car to the side of the road and prayed with him right there. He wanted to "tell Jesus to be in my heart", but there wasn't a good place to do it, so we just kept driving and headed to lunch. This is not something I ever wanted to suggest, or force on him, but it broke my heart to pass up an amazing opportunity. So, when we got to my mom's house after lunch, I brought it up again. I'm going to be honest, he was a little distracted, because Grammie had told him we were going to dye some Easter eggs. But I decided to bring up our earlier conversation, where we had already had covered: 1) When we have Jesus in our hearts, we go to heaven to be with Him when we die. When we don't have Jesus in our hearts, we go to hell where Satan is. And, no, they don't give you a drink when you are thirsty or really hot. And Satan is mean and plays bad tricks on us, 2) If we want Jesus to be with us all of the time, we need to pray to Him and ask him to be in our hearts. We are never alone when we have Jesus in our heart. He is there to heal us when we are sick, to help us when we don't know what to do, to comfort us when we are sad and to be happy with us when we are excited about our new Wii game, 3) When we have Jesus in our hearts, He helps us to know when things are right and wrong. And because we know that it makes Jesus happy to do what it is right, our friends and family will say, "hey, I want to be like Jaycoby, because he makes good choices and always listens to his mom and dad" (had to slip in some things to help a mommy out ;-) and 4) Why did Jesus die on the cross? To forgive all of our sins. And we celebrate Easter because Jesus rose from the dead. And because Jesus did those things we get to celebrate His life and love in heaven forever. So we went over some of these things again and then he said a short prayer: "Jesus, I want you to be in my heart, because I love you so much". Nuff said. Perfect prayer. And then we dyed Easter eggs. Because that is where is mind was mostly.
I was questioning if I had "forced the issue" and then Jaycoby put me at ease on our weekly drive to Portland. He asked me if he could "call Mike at 5 p.m. to tell him I putted Jesus in my heart". Also, when we got to his dad's house, we were able to come up with some connections to all of our salvation stories. Jonny got saved when he was 5-years old, on Easter Sunay at his grandma's church. I got saved when I was 4-years old and prayed with my mom in her bedroom. Jaycoby got saved when he was 5-years old, just before Easter weekend and he got to pray with Grammie too. He was excited that we each had a similar detail in our stories of when we had asked Jesus into our hearts too.
There is nothing better than knowing I will be spending eternity in heaven with my Savior and my son.

"Jesus is the goodest guy,
And he loves others and I.
He does really good stuff.
And he gives away our sins."
-Jaycoby's Easter song
(he will tell you that there are other parts to this song too, but I couldn't remember all of them)

What a special moment for you! How exciting for J that you and Jonny were both able to share similar stories with him. I love the song too!
