22 weeks...

I am now 22 weeks along in my pregnancy and I am...
• feeling Ella move a lot, but am surprised with how mellow she seems to be so far. As much as the whole “baby wiggling inside of me” feeling can kind of freak me out, I am ready for some strong kicks so daddy can feel it when he puts his hand on my tummy. We’re hoping that this means she will be a mellow baby (but we’re not holding our breath).
• hearing lots of brutally honest comments from family and friends about my rapid weight gain, round face and big belly.
• not sleeping well. Already you ask? Yes! The lovely side effects of this pregnancy are waking me up at night much earlier than they did with my first pregnancy (i.e. lower back pain, foot cramps, potty breaks, etc.). It’s awesome :-P
• eating WAY too much. Somehow I seemed to have better self-control when I was pregnant with Jaycoby. I am already planning out my mega weight-loss plan after this little girl is born. I know there is going to be a lot of damage control needing to be done.
• wearing maternity pants. I have been blessed with great friends who have loaned me TONS of maternity clothes. I couldn’t have survived without their generosity. I didn’t think I would have to dig into the piles of clothes this early, but I am grateful to have so many options (thank you, ladies!).
• more excited every day to meet our little girl. Honestly, it’s still sinking in that we are having a daughter. It’s so natural for me to head to the baby boy department when I’m shopping, because that is all I have known. I have to go into Ella’s nursery, on a daily basis, and look at all of the pink to help it sink in that we will be having a girl this time around.
• incapable of staying awake on long car rides. Sorry Mike!
• drinking tons of milk and orange juice. I normally don’t drink unless it is meal time, but I can’t seem to get enough of either of these beverages.
• getting used to the fact that my daughter already has a nickname. Jaycoby and Mike like to call her “Ella Michella”. I agree that the nickname is adorable (and has a nice ring to it), but her birth certificate WILL say Ella Michelle.
• forgetting anything I do not write down.
• frustrated with my weak immune system. I have had everything from shingles, to sinus infections, to terribly chesty coughs and all I can do is take A LOT of vitamins. It doesn’t seem to be working that well, but I’m hanging in there.
• struggling with “baby bangs”. For all you mom’s out there, you know what I am talking about. Besides a baby, what pregnant women get in return for surrendering their waistlines is nine months of thick, glorious hair. It’s a beautiful thing. However, when Baby is just a few months old (about the time Mommy is seeing hints of her returning waistline) it all falls out. Soon her face is framed by the re-growth—lovely inch-long hairs called “baby bangs”. This happened to me, like so many of you, two months after delivering Jaycoby. This time around, I was lucky enough to experience this shedding process WHILE pregnant. I am trying to count my blessings though. During my first pregnancy I had HORRIBLE skin and great hair. This time around my skin has been better than my hair and I think I would rather deal with bad hair days than skin issues.

Our bassinet. Jaycoby hardly slept in this, so we'll see if Ella likes it any better.

Matching swings! A friend from MOMS Club gave me her swing. Turns out, it's the same one I already have. She has great taste :-) Now we will have one for the family room and one for the nursery. No more carrying it from room-to-room, like I did with Jaycoby. Thanks MaryBeth!

Ella's closet. She has lots of 0-6 month clothes and a beautifully painted dresser, thanks to Mike.

I admire you documenting everything so well! I even noticed at your house the other day how you document everything for Jaycoby! I wish I was that good! I had the same swing for Diego and he LOVED it and it sounds like Jaycoby did too...how nice to have 2 of them!!

You are looking great! I'm sure you'll still be just as cute when you're 9 months!
