First Day of Preschool

I can't even begin to describe how difficult our preschool drop-off was. We tried to remain optimistic going into it, but we know our son, and we weren't surprised with how he responded to us leaving him at school. In the mix of the crying, snot, wailing and drool, he would yell out "I don't want to go to preschool" or "I just want to be at my home". It probably didn't help that he was the only child that was even slightly upset. Hearing the other parents comments, like "that kid does not sound like he wants to be here", was a little difficult. The second he started crying, the tears were welling up in my eyes, but I was able to hold it together.....until we got to the car. Then I cried the whole way home. And then I cried a little more. Nothing is worse than leaving your child when they are so upset.

Here are the photos from the morning. As you can see, it started out really well.

Superhero Backpack. Too cool.

Isn't he adorable?

Sportin' the new rock star jacket.

We had a special "Jaycoby breakfast" at Annette's.

He had the full spread of good brain food. Oatmeal, raisins, bananas, OJ, toast...and BACON :)

Headed into school with dad. A little cold and a little nervous.

He didn't want to get down and walk at first, but he was brave.

He was excited to put his backpack in his cubby (and knew right where his cubby was).

With his green pepper name tag on.

This is when things took a turn for the worse. He excused himself from the table (by crying loudly) and there are no more photos after that, because our hands were full. :-(

Oh he looks so big and grown up and cute! That's terrible parents were making comments. It really is not that abnormal for a kid to be upset the first day or pre-k.
Hopefully it will get better fast.... I feel for you :(
