The Beach, Cheese Factory & Mini Golf

Mike took Monday off of work, so that we could have a family day. Since J is with his dad every weekend, we do not have the opportunity to do some of the "normal" family outings that families often do on the weekends. We'd decided that the beach would be fun, but now we're not sure why we ever thought that. As I mentioned last weekend, we just aren't big beach people. But we made another effort, just to see if it would be more fun with Jaycoby, and we were wrong. It was so cold! We played in the sand for about 45 minutes and that was enough. It was really windy, so it was extra cold. We made a small sand castle, buried each other and then headed back to the car. We couldn't just drive straight home, so we decided to head over to the Tillamook Cheese Factory.

Our time at the Cheese Factory was pretty short, but it was fun. It's always a lot of fun to watch the cheese being made, taste all of the samples (my favorite) and then get an ice cream treat. On our way home from the beach, we told Jaycoby that he needed to sleep if he wanted to do something fun when we got home. He laid his head back in his car seat and was asleep in five minutes. We are so blessed to have such an obedient child. I think we take it for granted sometimes.

When we got back to Salem, the temperatures were much hotter than the beach. We all went for a dip in our pool, before deciding to get in a game of mini golf. Jaycoby had so much fun last time we went, that I knew Mike had to see him in action. We went to Mimi's and J did the whole course (even though it was really hot and we were all getting really sweaty). He still has some kinks with his technique, but we're working on them :-). It's just so fun for Mike to see Jaycoby enjoying a sport that he is so passionate about.

Here is a slideshow of all of our pics from our family day:
